Who we are
True to Dogs operates truetodogs.com, a dog-enrichment website with guides, an activity finder, and a weekly planner. This policy explains the information handled by these features and our contact form.
Your saved planner
The activity finder runs in your browser. The weekly planner stores your selected activities and notes in this browser on this device using local storage. The planner does not send those selections or notes to our server, and it does not create an account or sync a plan between devices.
The saved plan remains until you use Clear my week and confirm, clear this site’s browser data, or your browser removes it. Private browsing or changing browsers may mean your plan is not retained. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see the saved plan, so avoid putting sensitive information in planner notes.
Contact messages
If you use the contact form, we receive your email address, selected topic, message, and any optional name you provide, along with the time the message arrives. We use this information to read your request, respond when appropriate, and improve the website.
Messages are stored in a private WordPress inbox accessible to site administrators. We do not publish them or use the form to subscribe you to marketing. Messages remain in the inbox until the site owner removes them. You can request deletion through the Contact page; copies in backups or correspondence may remain according to the systems handling them.
To reduce automated spam, the form checks a security token and uses short-lived, salted identifiers derived from an IP address and email address to limit repeated submissions. These counters expire after an hour; a submission identifier used to prevent duplicate messages expires after a day. The contact inbox does not store the raw IP address with a message. Website hosting logs are separate, as described below.
Please do not send passwords, payment details, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.
Website and analytics data
When you visit, your browser sends technical information needed to load the website, including an IP address, the requested address, and browser information. Our hosting and security services may keep access and error logs to operate the site, investigate problems, and prevent abuse. Log retention is managed by those services.
We use Google Analytics through Site Kit by Google to understand visits and interactions, such as pages viewed, referring sources, approximate location, and device or browser information. Analytics can use cookies and online identifiers. Google receives information when its analytics code runs; its processing and retention also depend on Google service settings and policies. We also measure general tool actions, such as changing finder filters, adding an activity, filling or clearing a week, and clicking print. These events contain an action name; our custom planner does not send its saved activities or notes to Analytics.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers.
Administrator sign-in uses WordPress login cookies. Browsing the guides or using the activity finder and planner does not require a visitor account.
Service providers and external links
The website’s hosting provider processes information needed to host and secure the site. Google processes analytics information as described above. If we reply to a contact message by email, the email services carrying that correspondence also process it. Information may be processed in countries where these providers operate.
We do not sell contact-form submissions or planner notes. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users, or others.
Our guides link to external resources. Following a link takes you to a website with its own privacy practices; this policy does not govern that website.
Your choices
- Remove a saved plan: use Clear my week in the planner, or clear site data in your browser. Clearing cookies alone may not clear local storage.
- Manage browser tracking: use your browser’s cookie and tracking controls or Google’s Analytics opt-out tool linked above. Private browsing alone does not prevent analytics requests.
- Ask about a message: use the Contact page to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent. We may need to verify that a request comes from the person concerned before releasing or changing information.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional privacy rights. Information needed for legal obligations or security may need to be retained. We cannot retrieve or erase a plan stored only in your own browser.
Children
True to Dogs is intended for adult dog owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us so we can review and remove it.
Changes and questions
We will update this page when the site’s information practices change and show the revision date above. For a privacy question, choose A privacy request on our Contact page.
